Emma A. Llanto

MD, FPPS, FPSAMS

Emma A. Llanto is a pediatrician and adolescent medicine specialist. She heads the Division of Adolescent Medicine of the Philippine General Hospital is actively engaged in adolescent medicine fellowship training. She co-founded the first “teen mom” program and a health care transition program for adolescents with chronic illness. She is an active member of the Philippine Pediatric Society, Society of Adolescent Medicine of the Philippines, Inc. (SAMPI) and is the current president of the Philippine Society of Adolescent Medicine Specialists (PSAMS). She made significant contributions in the development of training materials for health workers namely the Adolescent Job Aid and the e-learning course, Adolescent Health Education and Practical Training (ADEPT). She was part of the committee that developed the standards for Comprehensive Sexuality Education of the Department of Education. Together with a team from the Philippine Pediatric Society, she is working on the integration of adolescent health care into the country’s residency training program.
