Astha Ramaiya

Astha Ramaiya is an Assistant Scientist at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, where she contributes to two key research centers: the Global Early Adolescent Study and the Gender Equity Unit. Astha’s research focuses on understanding how gender and other structural determinants influence violence experiences, mental health, and sexual and reproductive health outcomes during adolescence. She is particularly dedicated to developing interventions that harness safe, stable, and nurturing relationships to prevent violence while promoting belonging and flourishing among young people. Committed to fostering the next generation of researchers, Astha is a strong advocate for mentorship, especially for those entering the field. As co-facilitator of the Gender Violence Research Collaborative Network, she has organized numerous professional development opportunities, including webinars featuring emerging professionals’ work, conference panels, scientific writing workshops, and abstract writing workshops. Astha is passionate about advancing adolescent health on a global scale to address the complex interplay between social determinants and youth well-being.
