Tomiwa Akinsanya is a results-driven project manager and digital health professional with nearly a decade of experience leveraging digital technologies and an applied behavioral science approach to improve health outcomes for children, young people, and mothers across Sub-Saharan Africa. With a Master’s degree in Public Health, she has led and delivered high-impact digital health initiatives that strengthen access, financing, and service delivery in underserved settings.
At PharmAccess Foundation, Tomiwa took forward the organization’s digital agenda, overseeing flagship initiatives including the Mobile Application for Tuberculosis Screening (MATS), which has enabled TB screening for over 3 million individuals and improved case detection across underserved regions in Nigeria. She also managed the HealthRemit project, a cross-border digital health financing platform enabling diaspora-funded health insurance payments, facilitated the development of a digitally enabled maternal care package for underserved communities in Lagos, and managed the USAID-funded Integrated Health Program, enhancing health facility monitoring and registration through digital platforms.
Beyond implementation, Tomiwa has played an active role within the International Association for Adolescent Health (IAAH) Emerging Professionals Network, contributing to its strategic growth and global engagement. Over four years, she has collaborated with her colleagues to strengthen the network’s digital presence and, as an Emerging Professionals Officer, she has co-led high-impact initiatives that amplify emerging professionals’ voices in research, policy, and cross-regional collaboration.
Tomiwa’s expertise spans implementing strategic digital health projects, project management, market research, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications, underpinned by strong values of collaboration, innovation, and teamwork. She currently works with the Digital Transformations for Health Lab (DTH-Lab), a global consortium advancing value-based digital transformations for health by implementing the recommendations of The Lancet and Financial Times Commission on Governing Health Futures 2030, co-created with young people.
