IAAH YPN Mentorship Program on Research in Global Adolescent Health
The IAAH YPN will launch a mentorship program from July through September 2021. The focus is on dissemination of adolescent health research. The program will consist of four virtual webinars (open to the public) as well as four small-group mentorship sessions (limited to 10 participants, who must apply using the link below). Objectives for Mentorship Program
The IAAH YPN mentorship program is designed for young professionals interested in global adolescent health. This program is open to a broad multidisciplinary team and across a diverse global community in adolescent health. With a focus on research, our inaugural mentorship program aims to facilitate leadership and career development in global adolescent health. The main objectives include:
- To facilitate a short-term mentorship program with expert professionals within adolescent health.
- To provide further knowledge into current research relevant to adolescent health.
- To provide an understanding of global adolescent health care policies and strategies.
- To increase knowledge of existing global health organizations and networks.
- To facilitate a platform to present research projects to an international platform.
What is mentorship?
Mentorship in health care guides health career professionals who aspire to acquire new skills, information and further insight into their current field of interest. Mentorship typically involves one-to-one meetings between a mentor and mentee. The purpose of mentorship is to build confidence and provide guidance to the professional career development of the mentee.
What is flash mentoring?
Flash mentoring is one-time or short-term mentoring and is tailored to a specific group of like-minded mentees. It is centered around one-time meetings to provide knowledge or specific skills and to develop career and career mapping by building networks.

Program Requirements
- Participants must already be engaged in a research project with a primary mentor
- Participants must commit to attending all mentorship sessions (time zone check):
- Tuesday 20 July, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm AEST
- Tuesday 24 August, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm AEST
- Tuesday 14 September, 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm AEST (presentation practice)
- Tuesday 21 September, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm AEST
- Participants must commit to presenting their research at the final mentorship session
